We are seeking a skilled Horizontal Construction - Project Planner (Civil) with strong site-based experience to support large development
This role combines advanced project scheduling responsibilities with direct site involvement to ensure civil works are planned, tracked, and executed efficiently in the field.
This position is ideal for candidates with a background in horizontal infrastructure (e.g., earthworks, access roads, trenching, drainage) and who enjoy collaborating closely with field teams in a dynamic, renewable energy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide regular reports on project performance, including schedule variance and productivity analysis.
Prepare delay and disruption assessments and assist in Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
Support earned value analysis (EVA) and resource forecasting for civil works.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
May require early starts or extended hours depending on project phase.
Mixture of site and office-based work – typically 70/30 split during peak construction phases.

Key Responsibilities:
- Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, monitor, and update project schedules for horizontal civil works using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to align sequencing and delivery dates.
- Create baseline schedules, 3-week look-ahead plans, and recovery programs.
- Conduct a critical path analysis and identify potential risks or delays early.
- Assist with planning inputs during tenders, including site logistics and phasing.
- Regularly attend site to monitor progress, verify completed works, and update schedules accordingly.
- Collaborate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve on-ground planning and sequencing issues.
- Maintain close coordination with the construction team for timely resource allocation and site readiness.
- Validate actual vs. planned production rates and adjust schedules to reflect field realities.
- Support Health & Safety planning by incorporating task durations and access constraints into the schedule.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in planning civil works, with at least 2+ years of direct site-based experience.
- Hands-on experience with horizontal infrastructure such as roads, drainage, trenching, and foundations.
- Familiarity with solar farm construction or renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project,
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of NZTA specifications, WorkSafe NZ guidelines, and regional environmental regulations.
- Site Safe or ConstructSafe Certification (required for site access)
- Primavera P6 Certification – Advantageous
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent – Preferred
- Full NZ Driver’s License
