Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki Hospital and Specialist Services is looking for a dynamic Manager to lead our Quality and Patient Safety Unit.

The Quality and Patient Safety Manager will report to the group Director Operations Taranaki and work collaboratively with the Regional Quality & Patient Safety Lead to ensure implementation of the nationally agreed QPS work program.

The Quality and Patient Safety Manager will provide quality and patient safety leadership locally and provide patient safety and quality advice, support the development of quality improvement and risk management capability, and maintain and strengthen the patient safety culture.

The Quality and Patient Safety Manager will support the development and implementation of sustainable strategic and operational plans that will enable the Taranaki District to deliver effective, affordable, high quality and safe care to its patients, meet its performance targets and objectives and build a high performing and engaged organisation.

The Manager will role model Health NZ Te Whatu Ora values and provide effective leadership both within the organisation and throughout the wider district and within the intersectoral partnership environment. Key to success in this role is the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships between management and clinicians in achieving quality outcomes for patients and the efficient functioning of services in the region.

You will be offered the opportunity to:

• Lead the Quality and Patient Safety Unit and manage a dynamic team.

• Work in partnership with the Hospital Leadership Team to ensure high quality care is delivered and that key performance indicators are met.

• Lead and encourage the development of quality improvement initiatives when identified.

• Establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Strive to eliminate health inequalities and achieve health equity for the Taranaki population.

Moū - About you

To be successful it is important you have:

• Demonstrated leadership experience of at least 5 years in the health sector in Quality and Patient Safety

• A relevant health qualification and clinical experience is essential

• Knowledge of New Zealand Health legislation

• Knowledge of risk management

• Knowledge of clinical governance

• Expertise in serious adverse events review methodologies and Quality Improvement Methodologies.

• Experience in HDC and Coronial case management and be passionate about Patient Safety.
