About the Role

We are expanding! Our new radiology build opens in November 2025 and we are seeking a friendly, organised and efficient administrator to join our Medical Imaging (Radiology) team. You’ll be an essential part of our frontline team, supporting an extension of services and a significant increase in patient volumes. The ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in a fast-paced environment is critical—especially when working with patients who may be distressed, unwell, or anxious.

This is a reception-based role in the Medical Imaging (Radiology) department at Hastings Hospital. You will provide a key role in supporting the varied administration functions of the department. You will meet and greet our patients as well as working with our clinical teams by providing administrative functions such as booking and admitting patients.

The position requires you to work closely with patients and clinical staff. Therefore, you will need to be comfortable building rapport with various people and be a trusted and respectful staff member.

This role is a permanent role. This role requires flexibility and participation in the administration team 7-day rotating roster. The shift times are 8:00 to 17:00.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Hawke’s Bay Medical Imaging services cover all of Hawke’s Bay with sites at Hastings, Napier, Central Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa. This role will be based at the Hastings Fallen soldier hospital.

We are a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment that delivers urgent and planned care to the population of Hawke’s Bay. No two days are the same in our busy service.

 We are a multi-cultural team consisting of Radiologists, Medical Imaging Technologists, Nurses, Administration and booking staff and orderlies. You will be joining a collaborative and supportive team that values clear communication, adaptability, and a proactive approach.

About you

Skills we are looking for

  • Previous experience in a reception, booking, or customer service role (healthcare an advantage)
  • Calm, confident communicator with strong emotional intelligence
  • Ability to support and reassure anxious or distressed individuals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Flexibility to work shifts on a rotating 7-day roster
  • Confidence using booking systems, digital tools, and maintaining confidentiality
  • Good time management skills.
