About the Role

As a Receptionist at Buller Health, you will provide services for our integrated health service, in Westport, Karamea and Ngakawau. Our services include General Practice, Community Mental Health, Acute Stabilisation Unit, Outpatient clinics, Community Nursing, Allied Health and Radiology.  You - ll be responsible for delivering exceptional front-line service to patients, whānau, and visitors, as well as providing vital administrative support to keep our clinics and health services running smoothly. This is a varied role where no two days are the same - perfect for someone who thrives in a busy and supportive healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming manner - in person and over the phone.
  • Create and manage appointment bookings, patient enrolments, and enquiries with care and accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records, including enrolment data, clinical documents, and correspondence.
  • Support the efficient running of the clinic by monitoring waiting areas and assisting with daily operational tasks.
  • Assist with payments, invoicing (including ACC and overseas patients), and end-of-day cash reconciliation.
  • Provide general administration support, including mail, scanning, filing, and minute taking, transcription.

Essential:

  • A positive, people-focused attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multitasking ability - comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • High levels of initiative and professionalism.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare.
  • Good self-presentation and commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
  • Problem-solving ability and a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • High standards of accuracy and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Current full driver - s licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in a health-related or customer-facing administrative role.
  • Knowledge of Indici or other patient management systems.
