About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Registered Health Professional to support mental health and wellbeing across Tauranga Kahui Ako – a network of local schools working collaboratively to deliver wraparound support for students and their whānau.
In this 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week) permanent role, you will play a key part of the implementation of Te Waka Hourua o Tauranga Learning Support Delivery model. Your mahi will focus on early intervention, identifying emerging mental health needs, and delivering both individual and group-based support to build resilience, wellbeing, and emotional confidence among tamariki in Years 1 – 8.
Working from a whānau-centred approach, you will partner closely with schools, MICAMHS, and the wider Bay of Plenty Mental Health & Addictions Services to ensure culturally safe, accessible, and consistent support for local learners.

Based in the beautiful city of Tauranga, this role sits within the Bay of Plenty Mental Health & Addiction Services and operates directly with the Tauranga Kahui Ako – a collective of schools focused on building inclusive, student-centred learning environments. You will part of a close-knit, forward-thinking team committed to early intervention, collaboration, and working across sectors to create real change. About you
To be successful in the role, you present as an experienced Child & Adolescent Mental Health Professional who is driven by early intervention, wellbeing promotion, and the opportunity to make mental health visible and supported within schools. You understand the importance of whānau voice, cultural identity, and accessibility when supporting tamariki.
What you will bring:
- Current registration and Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist
- Experience working in Child & Adolescent Mental Health
- Strong understanding of early intervention, whānau-centred approaches, and school-based mental health
- Confidence building trusted relationships across school communities and diverse cultural settings
- Experience providing communication skills and the ability to support system-wide collaboration
