  • Registered Nurse 
  • 0.8 FTE Fixed-term (maternity leave cover), 12 Month part-time position – 64 hours per fortnight. Flexible rostering over 7 days.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an extraordinary nurse, providing patient care, both in direct care delivery and in support of other staff to increase wellness through community interactions and interventions to promote and facilitate immunisations for tamāriki through opportunistic and referral-based methods.

As an experienced nurse with community and primary care experience, you will have a warm, approachable manner, excellent communication skills across all population groups, which is supported by an understanding of Te Reo Māori me ona tikanga. You will need to have or develop the clinical skills to provide Childhood Immunisations. Qualification to provide other screening services such as Cervical Screening will be an advantage. While you must be able to work independently, you will need to be a team member, supporting the wider Childhood Immunisation teams/HOIS (Hospital Opportunistic Immunisation Service), Māori and wider community, and contribute to achieve the vision of healthy people, excellent care for all our people.

Health New Zealand - Waikato Childhood Immunisation Service primary focus is to increase childhood immunisation rates across the Waikato region, and to deliver high quality health care services that improves health outcomes and reduce inequalities where they exist.

 

About you

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti or Waitangi.
  • Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practice.
  • A current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • Significant clinical experience, with the last two years being in the specific specialty..
  • Expected to have met expert level of practice on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme but may achieve a higher level of practice.
