About the Role

You will be working in a high energy rural team based in the Tararua locality. You'll have immediate access to other speciality mental health service such as addictions, child, adolescent and maternal mental health service, Kaupapa Māori services and older adult mental health.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a level of knowledge and skill in the management of clients who present with mental health disorders.  The role will also include the capacity to be part a new model of care Te Mātāpuna o te Ora which focuses on a more integrated treatment approach with individual and family/whanau who present to mental health addiction services. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, is committed to ensuring culturally responsive care, is excited by change and able to work across teams, and is committed to a strengths based recovery approach that supports clients and family/whanau to achieve their goals.

About you

As a Registered Nurse you will:

  • Provide recovery orientated and acute mental health services as an active supportive and collective member of the interdisciplinary team for the Tararua mental health and addiction service
  • Undertake specialist assessment, treatment and support to whaiora and their families/whanau.
  • Develop treatment programmes in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team and our community partners such as primary health, Non-Government and other public providers of health and social services.
  • Work through crisis situations that may arise either with new or existing whaiora triaging and coordinating care as appropriate.
  • Facilitate family engagement, champion hope and recovery and engage the person in connecting with their community and support services.
