About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Coronary Care Unit team.

We are a small highly skilled nursing team committed to delivering fast paced acute cardiology care.  

You will be supported to care for patients with: 

  • Life threatening cardiac rhythms 
  • Acute heart failure 
  • Acute myocardial infarction 
  • Specialised procedures- for example pericardiocentesis, cardioversions. 
  • Monitoring of ward patients on telemetry 

You will work closely with our senior nursing team to obtain your Coronary Care Competency over your first two years. 

About the Service

Our Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a 9 bedded specialised unit where our patients present with a number of life-threatening cardiac events that require close observation, continuous cardiac monitoring and often urgent interventions. The nursing team monitors 21 telemetry monitors across our cardiology wards.

About you

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who has acute cardiology experience or is keen to develop their skills in this specialised area of nursing.  We will provide a comprehensive orientation package in a supportive environment to the successful candidate.

  • 2+ years experience in Acute Cardiology and/or Coronary Care is preferred
  • Ability to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other health professionals
  • Sound patient assessment skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
