About the Role

We currently have a 0.8 FTE fixed term position available for a Registered Nurses to join our Medical Day Stay Unit (MDSU) at Tauranga Hospital. We are offering up to 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) positions that runs Monday to Friday between 7:00am – 6:00pm, providing care for patients undergoing day infusions, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, radiological procedures, and other short-stay treatments.  This contract is covering maternity leave and is until end of May 2026.

This role is well suited to nurses with broad clinical experience, particularly in ambulatory or procedural care, who thrives in a focused and well-paced environment.  Pre and post care is a key part of this role, and your ability to work autonomously while contributing to a cohesive team will be essential.

The unit also provides 24/7 on-call endoscopy services.  Once trained, nurses will participate in the roster and must live within 20 minutes of the hospital, hold a valid NZ driver's license, and have access to a registered vehicle.

About you

What you will bring:

  • Current NZNC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience in day stay, ambulatory care, or procedural services (preferred)
  • Strong assessment, recovery, and patient education skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Full NZ driver's licence, access to a personal vehicle, and ability to respond within 20 minutes of Tauranga Hospital (for on-call requirements)
