About the Role

Step into a unique nursing role that combines autonomy, clinical skill, and teamwork.  We are seeking a confident and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Nurse-Led Preassessment Clinic within the Perioperative Department at Tauranga Hospital.  This permanent part-time role (0.4 FTE – 16 hours per week) offers the chance to be part of an expert team delivering patient-centred assessments for those preparing for planned procedures.

Working alongside anaesthetists and an amazing team of perioperative nurses, the role involves advanced clinical reasoning, comprehensive pre-op assessments, and collaborative planning to support safe, high-quality surgical care.  It is a rewarding position where your expertise plays a direct role in optimising patient outcomes.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will bring strong clinical assessment skills, sound judgement, and a passion for delivering quality care.  The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is key, along with a proactive approach to professional growth.

What you will bring:

  • Current NZNC Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Recent perioperative experience (PACU or preassessment experience preferred).
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Health Assessment and Clinical Reasoning.
  • A focus on patient safety, quality, and effective clinical communication.
