About the Role
An opportunity has opened for a Registered Nurse to join the Outpatient Department at Whakatāne Hospital in a 12-month fixed term role, working 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week). This role supports a variety of medical and surgical outpatient services, focusing on planned, non-acute care and follow-up.
You will be part of a small and stable team that values strong communication, adaptability, and a whānau-first approach to care. If you enjoy structured, day-based work with the chance to build rapport and continuity with patients, this could be a great fit for you.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Outpatient Department is part of the Medical Service at Whakatāne Hospital, delivering family-centred care to patients across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. The team is known for its kindness, friendliness, and commitment to achieving excellent outcomes – not just for patients, but also for their families and the wider community.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will bring two or more years of clinical nursing experience, excellent communication skills, and a positive, proactive attitude. You are calm under pressure, confident in outpatient settings, and committed to providing care that is respectful, culturally responsive, and patient focused.
What you will bring:
- Current NZNC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum of two years' nursing or clinical experience
- Confidence working autonomously across a variety of outpatient clinics
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A calm, respectful, and patient-centred approach
