Contract: Permanent full and part time roles available 1- 0.6 FTE ( Rostered and Rotating)

Salary: NZNO MECA Step 3-6 $86,519 - $103,750 (pro rata for part time)

About the Role
The Registered Nurse (RN) role is to meet the needs of people and whanau accessing our services using contemporary nursing care which is safe, appropriate and effective. The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is person/whānau centred, culturally appropriate and evidence-based. Quality improvement and patient safety is an important part of this role.
As a team member, you will play a critical role in assisting with a range of surgical procedures performed under local and regional anaesthesia, and sedated procedures. Your responsibilities will include preparing the patient for surgery, assisting the surgeon during the procedure, supporting and monitoring the patient, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
The role also requires that you are able to organise, prepare and run clinics. The role interfaces with other services within Hutt Valley and regionally to ensure appropriate follow up care is in place.
You will collaborate closely with the surgical team to provide excellent patient care and promote the best possible outcomes.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Procedure Suite at Hutt Hospital is a growing, multi-specialty ambulatory service offering minor procedures under local and regional anaesthesia, and sedation for dental procedures. Specialties include Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, and Regional Plastic Surgery.
The department includes two consultation rooms, five surgical procedure rooms and an observation area. There is a core team consisting of an Associate Clinical Nurse manager and three nurses, a health care assistant and administration office who you will be working alongside.
About you
Qualifications, skills and experience include
- Current NZ registration and practicing certificate
- 2 years post grad surgical experience
- Experience in Plastics Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Ophthalmology and/or theatre desirable
- The ability to provide day to day nursing support to Consultants, Registrars, clinics and outpatient services, along with excellent communication is essential
