About the role

Our Surgical Ward at Southland Hospital is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with a "can do", positive attitude to join their multi-disciplinary team on a permanent basis. Our team is focused on patient centred care, so your kind nature and ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical situations will ensure your ability to slot into our work family.

The work on this ward is varied and interesting and you will have many opportunities to develop professionally. Capability development is a high priority for us - there is ample opportunity for professional development. Our team is dedicated, professional and on hand to provide you with mentorship and support.

About you

To be a successful applicant you will preferably have current surgical nursing experience, be able to demonstrate resilience, will not mind putting in some hard work and be open and willing to up-skill as required. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills with a friendly demeanour and someone who values patient centred care. In return you will gain great work experience in a multidisciplinary team and the opportunity to either showcase or develop your skills in a variety of surgical specialties.

You will also have the following:

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
  • Previous surgical ward experience is preferable
