About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our amazing Surgical Ward at Whakatāne Hospital in a fixed-term role starting October 2025, working 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week).
This role offers the chance to work across a variety of general surgical specialties within a dynamic, high-performing team. You will contribute to the care of patients at different stages of their surgical journey, while continuing to grow your clinical expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Surgical Ward based in the sunny Eastern Bay of Plenty, the Surgical Ward is a forward-thinking, inclusive team that supports a variety of surgical services with professionalism, adaptability, and aroha. The ward is know for its strong team culture, where everyone is valued and supported to grow.

About you
To be successful in the role, you are adaptable, focused, and eager to grow your surgical nursing practice. You value teamwork, take pride in your work, bring empathy and energy to every shift.
What you will bring:
- Current NZ Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical ward or similar setting
- Strong cultural awareness and commitment to patient-centred care
- The desire to keep learning and developing in your nursing career
