About the Role
The Adult Rehabilitation and Health of Older People division within the Counties Manukau District is committed to a strong clinical-managerial partnership that ensures effectiveness and drives service development.
The Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation service is a supra-regional service supporting individuals residing in the 8 upper North Island districts of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. Adult. Our team provides specialist clinical consultancy and professional support to individuals across their rehabilitation journey. This spans acute, sub-acute inpatient, and outpatient rehabilitation including outreach services as well.
In addition, this role will contribute to Adult rehabilitation services weekly. The Adult Rehabilitation service is based at Middlemore and provides rehabilitation to Stroke, Amputee, and general rehab for those under-65 years.

About the Team/Service/ Location
We are looking for a Rehabilitation Consultant (1.0FTE) to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will also contribute to on call rosters for the Auckland Spinal service and routinely support SMO leave cover with Adult Rehabilitation services at Middlemore Hospital and Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation service as required.
About you
As a Rehabilitation Physician working across our rehabilitation services, you will need:
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council or New Zealand (www.mcnz.org.nz)
- AFRM specialist medical qualification in Rehabilitation Medicine
- Experience in Spinal and Adult / Stroke rehabilitation preferred
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly flexible and holistic approach to caseload management
- Excellent awareness of Ti Tiriti and equity of access principles to support service delivery
