About the Role 

Are you a passionate and motivated professional excited about advancing clinical research? We are seeking a Research Nurse to play a key role in coordinating and supporting the full lifecycle of clinical trials at Wellington and Hutt Hospital - from study start-up through to maintenance and closure.

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Support both new and ongoing clinical trials, including collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.
  • Ensure high-quality care and safety for all study participants.

About the Team/Service Location 

Our high-performing Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) team operates across Wellington and Hutt Hospital, supporting and overseeing a wide range of research initiatives. Comprised of experienced and dedicated professionals across diverse research domains, we pride ourselves on fostering a positive, collaborative, and supportive working environment. Our team is committed to advancing health outcomes for our communities, with a strong focus on equity and the well-being of Māori, Pacific peoples, and individuals with disabilities. 

About you 

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Registered Nurse - Research to join our team on a fixed-term, full-time basis. In this role, you will coordinate and manage clinical trials, supporting patients whose health conditions align with ongoing studies. All necessary clinical equipment, supplies, and trial-specific training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit patients and manage databases of potential participants for clinical trials.
  • Perform clinical procedures, vaccinations, monitoring, and medication administration.
  • Assist with the collection, processing, storage, and transportation of biopsies and blood samples in accordance with protocols and regulations.
  • Adhere to safety precautions and protocols at all times, providing education to staff and patients as needed.
  • Record and report adverse events and changes in patient medication histories.
  • Liaise with relevant parties to ensure patient visits are conducted as scheduled.
  • Support colleagues in a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate.
  • Ability to provide clinically appropriate, effective, and supportive care to service users.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively in a high-performing and positive research environment.
