Job Description
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Advance your specialist career while making a real impact for patients across the Canterbury and West Coast regions.
Join a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team in one of Aotearoa - s busiest and most dynamic public hospitals. With a predominantly outpatient workload, this is an excellent opportunity to balance meaningful clinical work with lifestyle in the South Island - s most vibrant city.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role
As a Consultant Rheumatologist, you will join our Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy Department at Christchurch Hospital. You will deliver predominantly outpatient-based services, supported by a senior team comprising three other SMOs, an advanced trainee in rheumatology, a specialist clinical nurse, and a research nurse.
You will also contribute to services for Te Tai o Poutini West Coast through visiting outpatient clinics and collaborate with other hospital specialties by providing consultation advice. The inpatient and day unit component of the role is modest, allowing for strong continuity of care within the outpatient setting.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our department serves a large and diverse population across Waitaha Canterbury and the West Coast. Based at Christchurch Hospital - a busy tertiary centre and the largest facility in the South Island - we provide specialist rheumatology care across multiple settings and maintain strong links with other internal medicine services.
