Our vision: Nature is thriving in Aotearoa | Te Oranga o te Ao Tūroa

The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature across Aotearoa. When nature thrives, we all thrive.

He angitūtanga | About the role

The primary focus of this role is to train staff across Te Papa Atawhai in the use of SAP, and associated business processes. The role will also support general IT training as needed.  This includes both online and face-to-face sessions and requires some travel, so flexibility to sometimes work away from home is essential.

This role is part of the Core Skills Delivery team, responsible for delivering training and development across DOC. We are a dispersed team of nine based around the motu. About half of us are based in Wellington, with others in Rotorua, Raglan, Nelson, and Te Anau. We are part of the wider People Capability and Culture Team, and this particular role will work closely with ISS - Business Engagement and Training team.

You will collaborate with subject matter experts, Directors, Managers, and colleagues from the wider People and Culture Directorate and ISS to design, implement, and roll out national and bespoke training initiatives. You will also work with individuals across our organisation to develop their facilitation capability and readiness to deliver training.

We are looking for someone with a curious and analytical approach to learning design and evaluation. You'll be accountable for leading continuous review of programmes, through insights gathering and reporting, to ensure training is fit-for-purpose, engaging and impactful.

Above all, we are looking for a skilled facilitator who is flexible, proactive, and a good team player. Being a strong facilitator is more important than having expertise in a specific programme.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing comprehensive training programs, including curriculum, materials, and resources, to facilitate the adoption and use of IT systems, with a focus on SAP and SAC (SAP Analytics Coud) and the associated business processes.
  • Building capability through online and face-to-face training and facilitation
  • Ensuring training programmes align with business objectives, meet central Learning and Development quality standards, and address the specific needs of different user groups.
  • Leading the creation and roll out of additional programmes as required by the Department, such as Procurements/Purchasing and Budget Management, Asset Management and any additional ISS training.
  • Managing the creation and roll out of a variety of training methods and techniques, such as instructor-led sessions, e-learning modules, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, to cater to different learning styles.
  • Developing and maintaining training documentation, including training materials, user manuals, quick reference guides, and online resources.
  • Ensuring training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible for employees to reference and reinforce their learning.
  • Coordinating training logistics
  • Building insights through evaluating programme feedback received and adjusting accordingly
