Te Tūranga | The Role
Work from either our Wellington or Auckland office - your choice!
Join a dynamic team where you'll lead and deliver consistent, impactful regulatory policy advice. Your work will help ensure the FMA's regulatory approach supports its strategy and reputation as an agile, effective, and respected regulator. Key areas of work include:
- Working with MBIE, the Reserve Bank and other agencies on developing and implementing significant pieces of financial markets law reform
- Considering the appropriate regulation of novel financial products and services
- Leading and contributing to significant pieces of FMA guidance
- Developing new class exemptions that excuse persons from complying with obligations under financial markets law and reviewing existing class exemptions
- Keeping under review the law and practices relating to financial markets
He kōrero mōu | About you
We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of experiences. What's key in this role, is an understanding of policy, laws and regulations relevant to financial markets, or an ability to get up to speed quickly on this!
Interacting with stakeholders, and the ability to shape and drive policy projects, and work collaboratively with our operational colleagues, are key attributes for us.
You may be an experienced policy professional with experience working with primary and secondary legislation. Or if you're a lawyer, here's your opportunity to try out policy (noting that a law degree is not essential to be considered for this role).
You're not expected to have 100% of these skills. At FMA a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we'd love to hear from you.
