Senior Adviser Wine Assurance (International Standards)

Role type: Permanent, Full-time

Location: Wellington

Salary band & range: General Salary Range E/D: $85,302 to $115,691 depending on skills and experience

 

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

We are looking for a Senior Adviser to join New Zealand Food Safety in the Wine Assurance Team.

The Senior Adviser will have a key role in leading Wine Assurance's input into international standard setting and trade-facilitation for NZ wine. Working closely with the wider team, you will have a key role in maintaining established relationships and collaborate with industry representatives and overseas counterparts.  

You will contribute to and be responsible for leading various activities within team's work programme, including providing advice to stakeholders, trade facilitating engagements, and working across the Assurance Directorate to ensure consistency of systems.

About You - Mōu

You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and will engage with industry stakeholders and within the team to facilitate trade and to support and enhance the integrity of MPI's international reputation as a competent body.

You will bring your technical expertise, knowledge of international agreements and New Zealand's trade system. This will be undertaken with confidence, charisma and passion for the wine industry.

Ideally you will have a relevant tertiary qualification, e.g., in public policy/food technology/sciences, or a related discipline. You will have confidence to gather, organise and communicate technical information in simple and understandable terms.

In this role you will use your stakeholder and engagement skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills to make sound judgements.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

The Wine Assurance Team is part of the Plant, Wine & Organic Assurance Team (PWO) which is responsible for the Plant export assurance programme, Wine assurance programme and Official organic assurance programme. PWO supports over $15 billion in export trade, including horticulture, wine, forestry, seed and organic sectors and plays a key role in assuring the integrity, safety and reputation of New Zealand's exported food and primary products. 

The Wine Assurance team works closely with Food Risk Management, Food Compliance Services, Bilateral Relations & Trade and Trade Policy.

 

About MPI - Mō te Manatū Ahu Matua

Our role includes seizing export opportunities for our food and fibre sector, improving sector productivity, ensuring the food we produce is safe, increasing sustainable resource use, and protecting New Zealand from biological risk.
