About the Role

As a Senior Advisor, you will build and maintain key relationships across Te Whatu Ora and Manatū Hauora, contributing to a dynamic portfolio of health and well-being initiatives while supporting the development of a comprehensive capability strategy. You'll be expected to proactively identify risks, propose solutions, and engage in collaborative discussions with your manager. Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability are essential, as you navigate evolving stakeholder needs and work effectively within a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

About the Team/Service

As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care.  The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. We are committed to ensuring our operating model is responsive to the needs of Māori.

About you

You bring valuable project management experience and a strong foundational understanding of tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, along with a clear commitment to equity. Your strategic thinking, ability to assess risk, and sound knowledge of government processes enable you to navigate complex systems and drive meaningful outcomes. You also demonstrate strong relationship-building skills and have a proven track record of collaborating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will have:

  • Minimum of 4–5 years' experience in a closely related field, with a background in project management
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft key governance documents and materials
  • Proven experience leading significant programmes of work from development through to implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
