Job Description

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Make a real impact: Become part of our vision to eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence in Aotearoa New Zealand

Are you ready to be part of something bigger? We are a unit with a significant system role, working across government to take collective action against family violence and sexual violence.

We steward the family violence and sexual violence system and drive realisation of the cross-agency strategy—Te Aorerekura. We work in partnership with communities across Aotearoa New Zealand, placing survivors, families, and whānau at the heart of everything we do.

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Advisor to join our Outcomes and Insights team for a 12-month fixed term position covering parental leave. We are part of the Executive Board for the Elimination of Family Violence and Sexual Violence.

The Outcomes and Insights team supports better and more consistent decision-making, interventions, and learning—both within the Business Unit and across the wider system.

We are embarking on a journey of enhancing our provision of insights and evidence to better inform and enable effective decision making. Your role would be pivotal to support the development of this work.

We are specifically interested in candidates with data storytelling and visualisation skills to help the team both translate and enhance our delivery of evidence and insights to inform and enable decision making.

In this role, you will:

  • collaborate across the Business Unit on projects aligned to the Te Aorerekura Action Plan focus areas, in particular Keeping People safe, Investing and Commissioning Well, and Stopping Violence
  • assist in the development of a work programme which drives evidence and insights-led decision making
  • use your skills in data storytelling and visualisation to translate complex insights into clear, engaging evidence that supports decision-making
  • support the Principal Advisor to work in partnership with an external provider to complete the Multi-Agency Responses Outcome Evaluation.

Ō Pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in research, evaluation, or insights—ideally in the public sector
  • strong skills in data storytelling and visualisation to bring evidence to life for decision-makers
  • confident providing advice in ambiguous or incomplete situations
  • strong written and verbal communication; experienced advising Ministers and senior leaders
  • proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships and networks.
