Job Description

Senior Investment and Planning Advisor
Wellington CBD | $99,000 – $125,000 (depending on experience) | 2 WFH days per week + flexible working

Do you thrive in complexity, juggle multiple priorities with ease, and have a strong grasp of how projects evolve from start to finish?

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Investment and Planning Advisor to join a respected public sector organisation based in the Wellington CBD, just a short walk from the Railway Station. This permanent role offers meaningful work, a supportive environment, and the flexibility to balance your week.
This role requires someone who is either super-passionate or interested in the education sector, or willing to learn about it.

About the Role
You’ll play a key role in shaping investment advice, supporting project planning, and influencing strategic decisions. Working across multiple programmes and business areas, you’ll provide high-quality advice on business cases, assurance, and planning processes — all while navigating the steps and rules required in a government environment.
This is a great role for someone who can hold and organise complex information, track multiple moving parts, and understands how to get things done within the public sector framework.
What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic advice on investment planning, business case development, and assurance processes
  • Maintain oversight of multiple projects and their stages, ensuring alignment and clarity
  • Contribute to long-term and strategic planning across various teams and initiatives
  • Navigate public sector processes, systems, and rules to move work forward effectively
  • Support a range of internal stakeholders across different workstreams

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in investment, planning, or strategy roles, ideally within the public sector
  • Familiarity with government processes, accountability frameworks, and approval steps
  • A strong knowledge of Performance Accountability and experience within a large organisation

  • Excellent memory and ability to retain key project details and sequences
  • Strong ability to manage and support multiple priorities at once
  • Skilled communicator who can translate complex material into clear, actionable advice
  • Experience with Government frameworks and work programmes, and working start to finish.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Salary: $99,000 – $125,000 depending on experience
  • Work-life balance: 2 days WFH per week + flexible working options
  • Convenient location: Wellington CBD – close to trains, buses, and great coffee
  • Supportive culture: Open, pragmatic leadership and a team that values collaboration
  • Career growth: Strategic, high-impact work with development opportunities
