Senior Analyst, Assurance
Type: Permanent
Location: Wellington-based role
Provide analytic rigor and advice on the design of NEMA's systems, standards, reports and tools for assurance including monitoring and evaluation.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The focus of the Senior Analyst will be the development of simple and pragmatic assurance tools, reports andprocesses including; development and integration of standards, monitoring and evaluation tools, and the production of high quality reports to build trust and confidence in the wider emergency management system. The Senior Analyst, Assurance will apply their understanding of the challenges facing the emergency management sector to inform the development of a fit for purpose assurance system.
As NEMA is an operational agency, there may be a requirement to respond to emergency activations in the event of a national emergency response. This may include potentially long hours and challenging working conditions, e.g. an emergency could occur at any time of the day or night and may require working shifts and/or working weekends. NEMA provides thorough training prior to you being required to assist in a response. NEMA will do all in its power to support staff in meeting their work and family responsibilities during an emergency. The welfare and wellbeing of our staff is of utmost importance.
Due to the nature of our role in Emergency Management, NEMA has a very dynamic work environment and as a small agency, staff are often required to pivot and change focus on their work at short notice. Attributes of adaptability, agility, resilience and curiosity are all required on a daily basis, in and out of times of emergency response.

We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:
- Ability to self manage, demonstrate initiative and create success in an ambiguous and unstructured environment.
- Flexibility of approach/thinking, able to adapt in constantly changing circumstances.
- Resilience under pressure, including the ability to deliver high quality work and articulate evidence based assessments to a wide range of stakeholders.
- The discretion and tact to handle confidential and private information.
Huanga Whaiaro | Key requirements
- Experience using and developing analytical tools and employing quantitative and qualitative evidence to inform decision making.
- Proven experience in process analysis to drive decisions and improvements.
- Demonstrable strong analytical and product/service management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret key stakeholder needs and translate them to operational requirements.
- Experienced in generating evidence-based reports and dashboards to meet the needs of the primary audience and promote continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in facilitating engagement workshops.
- Experience in persuading, influencing, and building and maintaining effective collaborative relationships.
- Sound technical acumen, including a strong working knowledge of relevant applications.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work in emergency response settings and providing surge capacity support where required.
