H2R Consulting are looking on behalf of a Wellington based organisation / agency for a new Senior Analyst to lead the Spending review process moving forward.
For this role, our client are seeking an individual with excellent analytical and strategic skills, strong implementation capabilities with a proven ability to deliver on time and to high standards. They need highly developed communication, influencing, and relationship management skills that enable them to have impact within and across government.
The ideal candidate will be an effective problem-solver, possess cultural intelligence and a growth mindset, and demonstrate a generous, team-oriented attitude. This role will suit a self-starter who is comfortable working with ambiguity, as the work often involves exploring unfamiliar areas of government spending or designing new policies and processes.
It may particularly appeal to someone from the public sector, consultancy (potentially Big 4), or business environments where the focus is on improving efficiency and effectiveness. For the Senior Analyst position, we expect applicants to have over five years’ experience, including a track record of leading projects and delivering results through others.

The role / the ideal person:
Spending Reviews are a tool used across OECD countries to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of public spending. While New Zealand has had variations of these over time, we are looking to institutionalise the approach and an ongoing work programme. The Senior Analyst would support the development and roll-out of the work programme, as well as lead specific reviews. This role requires enhanced influencing skills, alongside experience analysing fiscal and non-fiscal information in a public sector context.
What the role offers:
Appointing salary for Senior Analysts is between $127,000 and $148,000 per annum
