Te Tūranga | The Role

The Senior Cyber Security Operations Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the security, resilience and operational integrity of the FMA's digital environment.

This role is responsible for proactively monitoring, detecting and responding to cyber threats, embedding best-practice security controls and maintaining a strong security posture across IT systems, networks and data assets.

In this role, you'll work within the small but mighty Cyber Security team to manage security incidents, implement protective measures and continuously enhance security operations. This role collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance, drive threat mitigation strategies and strengthen cyber resilience across the FMA.

We're looking for you to bring:

  • Experience working in an information security operations role, including incident response and management.
  • Hands on experience with cloud security platforms and technologies.
  • Curiosity to continue learning and keep up to date with emerging trends, risks and threats.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to delve into complex security issues, use credible information sources and form accurate insights to inform our decision-making and response to mitigate risks.
