Our Business Analysts gather and analyse information to identify insights, trends and relationships that will inform future process/policy development and decision making. They connect with, and translate the needs of, different functions and teams, to define and advise which needs are most critical to our success, and to influence a customer-centric approach. Business Analysts play a pivotal role within our organisation by facilitating communication among various teams, helping to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Their contributions result in reduced project risks, improved decision-making, and the successful delivery of solutions that meet stakeholder expectations. Recognising and emphasising this role underscores the significance of Business Analysts in driving our organisational success.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to work across our Enterprise value stream that incorporates application development, data and analytics and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will lead the development of lean business cases for new initiatives and support the growth of SAFe practices and ways of working.
This exciting position will be suited to an individual with initiative and a collaborative nature because you will be working with a variety of stakeholders across Toitū Te Whenua. High level requirements gathering, facilitating across programmes of work, working in virtual teams, and advocating for the customer will come naturally to you and you will thrive in an environment where what you do has a real impact on everyday New Zealanders.

- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst, with a strong understanding of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
- A background in delivering programme-level business analysis, with the ability to balance high-level thinking and attention to detail when needed.
- Confident leading the creation of lean business cases, by collaborating with others to get signoff.
- Excellent communication and people skills to work with both business and technical teams.
- Strong written communication to explain complex ideas in plain language.
- Technical know-how is a bonus to manage multiple initiatives across different technologies and teams more effectively.
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to do things better, not just in our products, but in how we work and grow together.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the business analysis effort to create lean business cases for new initiatives.
- Work closely with staff through observation, workshop facilitation and comfortable using virtual collaboration tools.
- Ability to decipher complex systems and technical information to support business case development and team delivery.
- Experience challenging thinking, asking good questions to understand processes, issues, and barriers.
- Clear oral and written communication to deliver high level requirements through practical technical documentation.
- Knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Project Management frameworks as well as Agile delivery methodologies.
- Familiarity liaising across projects to contribute to the advancement and implementation of solutions, ensuring key insights are shared.
- Interest to coach and mentor Business Analysts to support the growth of the Business Analysis practice.
The annual salary range for this position is $128,000 - $138,000
