Senior Financial Accountant – Reporting, Systems & Analysis
Full time permanent | Ngauranga, Wellington
Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 (pro rata)

We are looking for a details-driven finance professional who thrives on meaningful work and making a difference. We’re looking for a talented Senior Financial Accountant to join our client’s small, high-performing team based in Ngauranga, Wellington.

What you’ll be doing: In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, system improvements, and insightful analysis to support key decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting, Systems & Advice (80%)

  • Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and reconciliations to agreed timelines.
  • Process end-of-month journals and complete tax returns (e.g. GST, FBT).
  • Provide financial guidance and support to staff on day-to-day transactions.
  • Assist with budgeting and cashflow forecasting.
  • Deliver financial analysis for projects and initiatives, with a focus on commercial risks and implications.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain strong process documentation.
  • Liaise with external providers (e.g. Deloitte, OC system vendor) to support smooth financial operations.

Asset Management (10%)

  • Lead stock valuations and manage depreciation schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Manager to maintain the organisation’s asset register.

Team Support (10%)

  • Lead financial system improvement initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to team meetings and support a collaborative work culture.
  • Provide backup to team members to ensure consistent service delivery.

What you’ll bring:

  • Solid experience in financial reporting and systems.
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance and accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to pitch in where needed.
  • Experience in the fuel sector is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in the fuel sector is a bonus.
