About the Role
Based in Christchurch and reporting to the Group Health and Safety Manager, the Senior Health and Safety Advisor plays a critical role in strengthening and embedding health and safety systems across the organisation. This role is responsible for leading the continuous improvement and audit preparedness of the organisation’s ISO-aligned Health and Safety Management System, and for supporting site teams to deliver on health and safety outcomes.
This is a high-impact role suited to a senior practitioner who enjoys working across varied environments. You'll partner closely with site-based H&S Advisors, operational leaders and support functions to uplift capability, close compliance gaps, and ensure the business remains audit-ready at all times.

About the Role

Duties
- Lead the review, development and standardisation of H&S policies, procedures and guidelines in line with ISO 45001
- Support and coach site H&S teams and Site Managers to drive consistent performance and capability uplift
- Conduct and support audits across sites as part of the Health and Safety Assurance Plan
- Lead and mentor significant incident and near-miss investigations using the ICAM methodology
- Monitor and analyse H&S data to identify trends, lead indicators and areas for proactive improvement
- Provide operational support to a designated site or region and contribute expert advice at group level
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a technical or operational H&S role within a complex environment
- Proven capability in leading investigations, audits and compliance activities
- Experience with ISO 45001-aligned management systems and document control
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to coach, mentor and influence across all levels
- Proficiency in analysing safety performance data and reporting on system effectiveness
