We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior IR Advisor to join our collaborative team, within a complex and unique organisation.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
You will be the lead across the key relationships and engagements with the unions, developing and implementing the Industrial Relations Strategy. The Senior Advisor will have experience in developing bargaining strategies for collective bargaining with the unions, leading negotiations and ensuring work programmes committed to in bargaining, are implemented with union engagement. Additionally, you hold a critical role in the organisation to provide advice and guidance, for managers across the business, on the interpretation and application of the employment agreements that Oranga Tamariki is a party to.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
You will have demonstrated experience leading work within the industrial relations environment, including experience in the advocacy and negotiations supported with a detailed knowledge of current NZ employment law and HR practices and can relate this to an organisational context.
Some other key requirements of the role include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates the ability to remain calm, and exercise sound judgement when under extreme pressure, using approaches that are appropriate for the situation
- Ability to coach, and mentor people leaders and the wider team to enhance overall capability in HR practice
- Strong ability to develop/articulate logical arguments - based on fact, information is sourced from a variety of sources, argument is backed by sound evidence
- Consistently demonstrates sound judgement and is pragmatic, adaptable, open-minded, reflective and forward thinking, is committed to learning and extending self and continuously seeks opportunities for different and innovative approaches to work
