The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) based at Police National Headquarters is seeking a Senior Analyst to be part of the Strategic Intelligence Team, primarily working with the Financial Crime Prevention Network (FCPN). The FIU is part of the Financial Crime Group which also includes the Money Laundering Team and Asset Recovery Units in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
Strategic Intelligence comprises of intelligence and research staff and provides strategic products to Police, other government agencies, and the private sector based on research and analysis. Our work is generally based on financial reporting from the private sector under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.
The FCPN is the key Public Private Partnership (PPP) for direct engagement with key reporting entities, consisting of law enforcement agencies and private sector reporting entities. It is the role of the Senior Intelligence Analyst to collaborate with FCPN members to produce strategic intelligence products.
As the Senior Analyst you will mentor other members of the team to ensure they are making the best contribution they can to Our Business. In time you will become an expert in money laundering and the financial component of any acquisitive crime. A financial background is not necessary, but you must have good analytical experience, proven mentoring skills and work well in a team environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Analytical intelligence expertise and a high level of strategic thinking
- Leadership, mentoring skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people at various levels
- Ability to navigate complex issues, lead critical intelligence analysis and discussion as well as engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate successful management of competing priorities and demands
- Identify and support development and improvement opportunities to enhance the team, work and organisational outputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication

To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL / SECRET / TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $102,808 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
