We are looking for an experienced Senior Investigator to join our Telecommunications Regulatory Rules and Compliance Team. This is perfect opportunity for someone with a sharp mind and enthusiasm to contribute to the work of the Commission and make a difference for New Zealanders. This is a permanent opportunity based in either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara, or our Tāmaki Makaurau office.

The telecommunications team is responsible for the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of the Telecommunications Act 2001, which regulates the supply of certain telecommunications services. The purpose of

This role will contribute to and support a work programme focussed on compliance assessments and investigations, engaging stakeholders at the right time about the right things, providing advice and recommendations and building a strong compliance culture.

The added benefit of the role is that you'll work alongside technical experts who will mentor and guide you through your career and in return you will provide coaching and mentoring to developing team members.

The indicative salary range for this role is $114,327 to $134,502 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

You will be:

  • Experienced, confident and skilled at undertaking analysis and able to undertake investigations
  • Someone who enjoys that challenge of confidently project managing multiple pieces of work and be skilled at gathering and analysing complex information, conducting interviews of industry stakeholders, fact witnesses, and other interested parties
  • Comfortable presenting and interviewing as well as creating written reports for the internal and external stakeholders, including reports for publication by the Commission
  • A skilled communicator, you will be able to provide information to consumers and businesses so that they understand their rights or obligations
  • Skilled in applying legal and economic principles to information to determine whether laws have been broken, and appropriate remedies
  • Be excellent at time management - able to prioritise your workload and successfully juggle multiple projects.
  • Knowledgeable about the telecommunications industry

A relevant tertiary qualification in an analytical discipline such as law or economics, and/or previous investigative experience is required.
