We’re on the hunt for a Senior Java Developer to join a high-performing development squad building mission-critical solutions for global financial markets.

This is your chance to work on innovative projects with meaningful impact, all while collaborating with seasoned experts in a highly supportive, fast-moving environment. You’ll start fully remote and transition to a hybrid model in either Auckland or Wellington as the team grows.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop world-class Java-based systems and applications with clean, scalable code
  • Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to shape and refine requirements
  • Contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and best practices
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to improve current processes and systems
  • Work across teams to deliver seamless, integrated software solutions
  • Spend ~80% of your time on greenfield development and ~20% on enhancements and support

✅ Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Deep Java expertise (Java 8+ essential; Java 17+ highly desirable)
  • Strong grasp of the full software development lifecycle
  • Collaborative mindset with an ability to partner with users and teammates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven problem-solver who enjoys ownership and accountability
  • Experience in agile, fast-paced environments
  • Passion for delivering robust, high-quality software solutions
  • Desire to learn financial systems (experience with Calypsowill be an advantage).

Qualifications

  • To be considered a 1st or 2nd class honors degree from a global top 300 university is essential
  • Strong academic record (top-tier A-levels or international equivalent)
  • NZ Citizenship or Permanent Residencyis essential.
