About the Role
The Department of Rheumatology at Counties Manukau invites applications from suitably qualified Senior Medical Officers for the following positions:
Fixed-Term (0.4 FTE): Parental leave cover from April 2025 to December 2025
Permanent (0.4 FTE): Ongoing proportional appointment
Both positions involve a mix of inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic work.
You will contribute to a service that operates across multiple locations – including Middlemore Hospital, Manukau Super Clinic, and regional locality clinics – providing integrated care to one of New Zealand’s most diverse populations.
Interested candidates may also participate in general medicine work.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Rheumatology team comprises eight SMOs, registrars, and four senior nurses. The service is based at Middlemore Hospital, a 1,000-bed tertiary teaching hospital providing comprehensive acute medical and surgical services. For more information on living and working in Manukau click here
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
Be a vocationally registered Rheumatologist with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
Hold FRACP or an equivalent qualification
Be experienced in managing both inpatient consults and outpatient care
Enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrate cultural awareness and a commitment to equity
