The Workplace technology function ensures the integration across IR's Primary Services and works with our business stakeholders and key suppliers to ensure that all our technical services operate efficiently and effectively. We help IR workers serve the NZ public as efficiently as they can without interruption.

Mōu - About you

To succeed in this role, you should be a seasoned technologist with robust analytical and system thinking abilities. A deep understanding of various Microsoft technologies and a proven track record in delivering business-focused solutions in both business-as-usual (BAU) and project environments.

You should possess a high level of understanding and credibility within an operational ICT environment and be a natural problem-solver. You need to be comfortable advising the business on complex technical issues that may arise.

Your responsibilities will also include cross-skilling with other team members, maintaining and developing technical solutions and documentation, implementing change requests, and collaborating with the wider Technology Services teams to resolve issues. Additionally, you will plan and consult on new initiatives and guide the team through implementation.

Technical expertise:

• Five plus years of practical experience

Extensive experience with Microsoft Services, including the following:

• Azure Active Directory (AD)
• Azure Identity Services
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including productivity and collaboration tools
• Expertise in deploying and managing communication and collaboration platforms like Teams and SharePoint
• Advanced skills in device management, policy enforcement, and configuration management using Intune
• Exchange Online: Proficient in managing email and calendaring services
• Microsoft Security Services: In-depth knowledge of security solutions such as Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS),Azure Information Protection (AIP), Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), and Conditional Access policies
• Experience with Active Directory, Windows Server environments, and Exchange Server

Advanced scripting expertise:

• High proficiency in scripting and automation using toolsets like PowerShell to streamline processes and improve efficiency

Artificial Intelligence (AI) products and solutions:

• Understanding of Generative AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision concepts
• Experience with AI tools and platforms such as Microsoft AI Foundry, Microsoft CoPilot studio
• Knowledge of integrating AI solutions with existing IT infrastructure and services

Methodologies and practices

Agile practices:

• Demonstrated experience in agile methodologies and practices, ensuring efficient and iterative project delivery

DevOps understanding:

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, fostering a culture of continuous integration and continuous delivery

ITIL practices:

• Strong understanding of ITIL practices and their application

Soft skills

Communication skills:

• Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with high-level stakeholders, providing advisory and strategic insights

Workload management:

• Proven experience in balancing workloads between BAU tasks and project-based initiatives, ensuring timely and successful delivery
