- Salary midpoint of $119,209, actual salary dependent on your experience
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
In this role you will be leading and preparing policy advice as part of the Strategy, Policy and Legislation Directorate at the Ministry of Health.
Initially, this role will see you developing sensitive and critical advice to support the Government's response to the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care. Applying your expertise, you will prepare advice to Ministers and senior executive and demonstrate your ability to apply policy frameworks and assess and weigh different options.
This position will also support the development of the Medical Products Bill. In that capacity you will lead and develop advice on the regulation of medicines and medical products, assist in the preparation of legislation and Cabinet materials, and support the passage of legislation through Parliament.
You will have the opportunity to grow your professional policy skills though peer reviews of documents and materials prepared by colleagues and opportunities to mentor and support junior analysts.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualification in a health, policy or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in a Policy Analyst or Senior Policy Analyst position,
- Thorough understanding of public policy, government processes, and structures
- Analytical mindset with the ability to ask probing questions to uncover underlying information
- Strong relationship-building skills and experience working with stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
