About the Role
As a key member of the Delivery Unit team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic advice to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on delivery of the Health Delivery Plan. You will engage closely with senior leaders across Health New Zealand to build a deep understanding of priority programmes and initiatives, and ensure that they are delivered sucessfuly.
This role involves supporting senior leaders in developing and refining delivery plans, working collaboratively to drive effective implementation, and proactively identifying and resolving delivery challenges. You will contribute to high-quality reporting by preparing routine updates, carrying out detailed delivery assessments, and supporting stocktake processes. As part of the Delivery Unit team, you will help maintain strong oversight of the delivery plan, ensuring a structured and effective approach to achieving key priorities.
About you
As one of our Senior/Principal Advisor, you are a seasoned leader capable of providing strategic advice at executive and board level. You possess a strong background in managing complex portfolios and driving performance improvements in the public sector.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven senior management experience in the New Zealand public or private sector, with a focus on leading complex delivery portfolios.
- Demonstrated success in enhancing the performance of large-scale delivery programs, particularly in the public or health sector.
- Expertise in business or program analysis, including evidence preparation, writing, and presenting assessments and recommendations.
- Strong relationship-building skills, enabling effective engagement with boards and senior public sector leaders on complex issues.
- Experience working in a delivery unit or knowledge of delivery unit methodologies and approaches is preferable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate effectively in a range of formats and channels, and to a range of audiences
