Mō te tīma / About the Team 

The Māori, Communities and Partnerships (MCP) Group is responsible for building capability across the organisation to support the aspirations of Māori, connecting and collaborating to build effective partnerships and community approaches that achieve better outcomes for those who most need our support.

The Service and Contracts Management team within MCP, is responsible for managing a range of contracts with service providers and partners and supporting our industry partnerships with employers. The group also supports the regional contracting teams who work directly with providers throughout New Zealand.

 

The OSCAR and Disability team is a small team of experts that oversee and administer a range of services to: 

  • support disabled people to achieve employment and participation outcomes, and 
  • enable before and after school care provision, to ensure childcare is available for working parents in all communities.

 

Mō te tūnga / About the role

We're looking for someone who wants a role that is a bit different. As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for keeping our team's project and operational work on track and supporting staff to deliver on time and to a high quality. You will manage delivery, identify and implement opportunities to improve our work/remove blockers, prioritise and sequence activities, and manage project and operational risks, dependencies, and team resourcing. You will provide support to the manager and cover the Manager when they are absent.  

 

Mōu – Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako / Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven track record in a senior role within an operational organisation, ideally within the social sector or commissioned services context.
  • Significant project or change management experience, with social or community sector experience being an advantage.
  • Strong experience in machinery of government, preferably in an operational context. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to make informed decisions, coordinate, collaborate, prioritise, and integrate, complex work effectively.
  • Familiarity with established Project Management methodologies including familiarity with Agile scrum management and sprint planning and review activities
  • Ability to see the "big picture", understand the broader strategic context of our work, and navigate the machinery and requirements of a large organisation.
  • Experience managing contracts and Service Level Agreements is a benefit.
  • Competence in using the MS office software suite including Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Sharepoint and Teams. Experience with Jira would also be a plus.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, evaluate all options, and support recommendations with quantitative analysis.
  • Comfortable in a high-paced environment and able to effectively manage sometimes fast-moving changes to requirements and priorities. 
  • Proven previous experience in managing a team is preferred.
