This is an exciting opportunity to join Health New Zealand and play a crucial role in recruiting our senior medical staff, directly contributing to achieving national health targets.

As a Senior Recruitment Advisor, you will provide strategic and operational recruitment guidance, advice, and support to people leaders. You will be responsible for delivering candidate-centric recruitment services, ensuring a seamless experience for both candidates and hiring managers.

Additionally, you will mentor and support junior team members and lead portfolio-specific projects and recruitment events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the full recruitment process of Senior Medical Officers from sourcing to onboarding.
  • To work closely with clinicians to understand the vacancies you are recruiting to.
  • Deliver recruitment services that align with workforce strategies and professional registration requirements.
  • Provide advice on sourcing and candidate attraction strategies
  • Coach hiring managers on best practices in recruitment and assessment methods.
  • Ensure timely communication and support for candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Participate in health sector employment initiatives and recruitment events.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Health New Zealand is transforming. In the recruitment space we are focusing on national and local strategies that will change our game in candidate attraction, branding and process improvement and we need innovative recruiters to help deliver that promise! 


You'll have autonomy to run your portfolio but have fantastic support from a strong team, who laugh a lot, but also relish in the challenge of finding & hiring great health professionals for our front line services - rewarding job purpose and satisfaction in one!


This is an 18-month fixed term role, based at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and covers the SMO portfolio in the Taranaki recruitment team.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

·       A tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience in a senior recruitment or talent role.

·       Five years of relevant experience in an advisory position in recruitment

·       Knowledge of NZ legislation and its application in a large, complex organisation.

·       Experience working in the public health sector is preferred.

·       Strong relationship management skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

·       A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
