Join the Department of Conservation (DOC) and play a key role in safeguarding New Zealand's unique environment. We're looking for 2x Senior Supplier Advisor's with procurement expertise — preference with construction related projects — to help deliver critical infrastructure and restoration work that supports conservation across the motu.

You'll be part of a collaborative and future-focused procurement team, advising on sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring value and sustainability in everything we do.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Experience in procurement and supplier management, with over five years in construction related environments
  • In-depth understanding of Government Procurement Rules and their practical application
  • Proven capability in leading strategic sourcing initiatives, developing supplier panels, and formulating competitive market strategies through research and procurement planning
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to interpret complex procurement and contracting scenarios, including construction contract standards NZS 3910, 3915 and 3916
  • Confidence in coaching and mentoring peers and junior staff members
  • Experience influencing and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional certifications, such as CIPS, certified tender evaluator, civil or engineering QS, preferred but not required.

The salary range for this position is $92,450.00 - $116,985.00 pro-rata with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
