Our Finance team plays a vital role in enabling the Ministry to deliver its best—providing expert financial analysis and services that support operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate risk.
We're seeking a strategic and technically skilled Senior Systems Accountant to ensure our financial systems are fit for purpose, well-integrated, and support strong financial management across the Ministry.
In collaboration with the Financial Controller and Finance leaders, you'll lead the design, implementation, and governance of financial system solutions aligned with strategic priorities. You'll manage key elements such as the chart of accounts and delegations, ensuring compliance with legislative and accounting standards. As the technical lead for TechnologyOne, you'll also drive user capability uplift and mentor team members to build resilience and expertise within the team.

- Strong experience and demonstrated successful capability in the implementation, improvement, ongoing management and training of finance processes and systems
- Strong experience and demonstrated successful capability in using TechnologyOne including CiA
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and reporting technologies
- Significant planning, analytical and critical thinking skills, experience and demonstrated capability in successfully applying analytical frameworks, including non-financial concepts to draw sound conclusions, make appropriate decisions and develop creative solutions with minimal guidance
- Strong experience and demonstrated capability in successfully building and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels, internally and externally, including collaborating with others to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrated capability working flexible in a changing and agile environment where demands and requests fluctuate
- Experience in the public sector and knowledge of public sector accounting concepts is desirable
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. accounting, information systems/technology, finance) and/or membership of an CAANZ or CPA is also desirable.
Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau
The base salary budget for this position is $108,126 - $135,000 per annum + KiwiSaver. The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
