Location:   Hutt Hospital

Contract:   Permanent, Part Time 0.6 FTE  Monday -Friday 8am-1630 (can be negotiated)

Salary:      NZNO MECA Grade 1 pro rata for part time

About the Role 

This is an exciting new role for an experienced Registered Nurse in the specialty of Gastroenterology to take the next step in their career. This varied role involves working with the senior medical and nursing team to deliver enhanced outcomes for patients and their whanau to ensure timely and appropriate care. This role will have a large focus on reviewing polyp histology and ensuring patients are placed on the appropriate surveillance interval in line with current national and local polyp guidelines.

About the Team/Service/ Location 

Our Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Service provides both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, undergraduate medical and nursing education and post graduate specialist vocational training.

The service also performs diagnostic, interventional or therapeutic endoscopic procedures. These include, but not limited to, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and ERCP. These services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Endoscopy unit is co-located with Medical Day Stay who provide an ambulatory outpatient service for patients requiring IV infusions and/or transfusions along with aftercare for radiological guided procedures such as liver and lung biopsy.

About you 

You will be an experienced Gastroenterology nurse with at least 2-3 years - experience working in a Gastroenterology service

  • You will have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within the RN scope of practice
  • Proven ability to anticipate, respond and prioritise work whilst being adaptable to changing needs 
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and members of the health care team to facilitate and coordinate  care
  • A comprehensive understanding of local and national polyp guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • A relevant post graduate qualification or working towards
  • Expert PDRP or commitment to attaining this
