About the Role
We are looking for an experienced New Zealand registered Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy team at Auckland City Hospital as a Static Physiotherapist working between Ward 51 Integrated stroke and neurology unit (Taiao Ora) and the Neurosurgical ward.
- Managing a clinical caseload providing comprehensive and evidence-based care to acute stroke, neurological, neurosurgical and rehabilitation patients
- Be supported in the role by senior clinicians, physiotherapy practice supervisor and allied health consultant, and work alongside other static and rotational therapists
- Opportunities to play an active role in quality improvement, staff and service development
- Work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary multicultural environment
- Participate in our weekend and on-call roster
Within the role you will work with patients with a wide range of presentations including but not limited to trauma, traumatic brain injuries, subarachnoid haemorrhages, tumour resections, spinal surgeries, MS, Parkinson’s, GBS, amputee and stroke patients across their acute and rehabilitation journey. The role will require you to be flexible and work across the areas based on service demand. You will be responsible for supporting junior staff and providing teaching across both teams.
This role is based at Auckland City Hospital and is a permanent, full-time position 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week). This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist wanting to advance their clinical practice, clinical leadership and service improvement skills within a supportive environment.

Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists motivated to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the communities we serve. Our team consists of 91.2FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you
As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- 3+ years post-graduate experience including clinical experience in rehabilitation/ stroke/ neurology/neurosurgery
- Excellent clinical decision-making skills and use of evidence-based practice
- Resilient, resourceful, proactive with the ability to resolve conflict and find viable solutions for complex issues
- Evidence of establishing and developing working relationships within the wider MDT
- Experience providing student supervision and education
- A flexible, pro-active approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care
