About the Role 

A day in the life of a Clinical Records Team Leader is dynamic and demanding, balancing operational efficiency with strong people leadership. The role involves constant coordination to keep the service running smoothly and efficiently, often juggling competing priorities such as tight deadlines, fluctuating workloads, and resource limitations. Coaching and developing team members is a central focus, requiring a supportive yet strategic approach to performance management and professional growth. 

This is more than just operations - it - s about inspiring people, driving service excellence, and shaping the future of clinical records in an evolving digital landscape. Ultimately, the team leader plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of service while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

The salary is MECA Band 7 Step 1 to 7 $81,226 to $95,383.

About the Team/Service/Location 

Based at Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, the clinical records service is responsible for ensuring patient records for Capital and Coast are managed accurately, securely, and in line with regulatory standards. Supported by a team of 31 clinical records administrators, 2 coordinators and 4 Patient Information Officers, the clinical records service primary role is to ensure health care providers have timely, accurate information to support every decision they make.

About you 

You will be resilient, adaptable, have a clear vision and able to manage diverse personalities and will bring to the role:

  • A qualification in Health Information Management or a related field
  • Previous experience in health records management
  • At least 3 years leadership experience, ideally with large teams
  • Experience working with the Privacy Act, Public Records Act and other legislation governing patient information 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, displaying honesty, integrity and a demonstrated sense of ethics in all decisions and actions
