The role

GCSB is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Team Leader to join our busy team which enables customers of the New Zealand Intelligence Community.

You will be responsible for the management and operational oversight of a small team of specialists who enable customers to access intelligence in accordance with their needs and preferences. Your ability to provide the team with leadership and the support they need will ensure they excel in the delivery of their work.

Key to your success will be your ability to focus on, and deliver to, the following:

  • People leadership and management
  • Managing team services
  • Business change and planning
  • Customer and partner engagement
  • Strategic and system leadership

You will establish and leverage a network of contacts to assist and improve customer access to intelligence.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in:
    • mentoring, coaching or leading others
    • leading others through periods of change
    • setting requirements for technology solutions, both existing and new
    • monitoring delivery of technology solutions
    • intelligence delivery and customer engagement
  • Strong inter-personal and relationship management skills, and a mature approach to leading a team
  • A willingness to explore and develop ways to better meet customer needs
  • Advanced communication skills

Appointing range: $120,359 - $128,383

Before you apply
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

          OR

          Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
