At the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) we deliver a range of services to New Zealanders - registering the birth of a baby, registering a marriage/civil union, applying for a passport to travel overseas or changing your name, applying for citizenship and more.

Most New Zealanders have some interaction with DIA through their lifetime and our commitment to our customers is to put them first.

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our team that directly supports our customers as a Team Leader in our Regulatory Identity Services branch, providing leadership, support and guidance to our kaimahi to deliver our work.

This is a diverse role, and no two days are the same, the need to adapt to the unique needs of our customers is critical. In this role you will have the support of those around you. Across DIA we have approximately 60 team leaders supporting the delivery of this important work, you'll have the opportunity to learn from those around you in an inclusive and enabling environment.

To be successful you will need:

  • A strong customer centric approach with experience delivering exceptional service, ideally in a contact centre or processing environment.
  • Experience and a passion for leadership, with a focus on building capability and facilitating teams to be high performing.
  • Experience navigating challenging situations, whether it be helping a customer to resolve an issue or providing your team feedback.
  • A positive and constructive approach and willingness to do what it takes to deliver success for our customers.

You will oversee daily operations, monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback to ensure that service standards are met or exceeded.

Additionally, you will collaborate with other teams to address customer issues and improve how we do things.
