About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our high-functioning and supportive Security and Parking team. This role will report to the Operations Manager Attendants Security & Parking – Waikato Hospital and support the wider Clinical and Operational Support Services team at Waikato District Health Board.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role is accountable for leading the Parking and Security Service at Waikato district by coordinating, and managing a responsive, competent, quality and efficient customer focused service.
Key responsibilities:
- Promote a positive and healthy team culture. You will role-model organisational values, share staff feedback, and highlight achievements to support engagement and morale.
- Lead and monitor daily operations. This includes planning service delivery, tracking performance data, and supporting improvement projects and patient experience initiatives.
- Coordinate HR-related activities. You’ll manage recruitment, training coordination, compliance reporting, leave tracking, and staff rostering to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Maintain high operational standards. You’ll oversee policy implementation, ensure legal and organisational compliance, and verify the accuracy of financial and payroll data.
- Support broader team functions as needed. You may take on additional duties aligned with the role, as agreed with your manager.

About the Service
Clinical and Operational Support Services is made up of a wide range of services, including Attendants (Orderlies), Nutrition and Food (patient meals, Meals on Wheels, Retail), Hospitality Support Services (Bryant Education Centre, Volunteers, Chaplains and Enquiries), Security and Parking, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Outpatient Nursing, Waikato Hospital Administration.
About you
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong capabilities aligned with the Leading Others leadership focus. This means holding formal leadership responsibilities, consistently modelling leadership character, and driving high-quality service delivery within their team and area of influence.
Essential experience and qualifications
- PSLA COA or equivalent
- Strong experience in security/parking operations
- A strong operational management background is preferred together with a high level of professional competence in management.
- Advanced technical knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office suite
- Strong organisational, communication & decision-making skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and drive performance using data
- High personal integrity and professional standards
Preferred:
- Tertiary qualification in management
