Salary band & range: General Salary Range C: $117,035 to $136,961 depending on skills and experience

 

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

We are looking for a proactive and people-focused Team Manager Shared Services to join the Food Act Operations team in this newly created position.

As Team Manager Shared Services, you will lead the delivery of core operational and business support functions across our directorate that includes project management, business analysis, and capability expertise to support the development and implementation of the requirements and guidelines for stakeholders under the Animal Products Act 1999, Food Act 2014 and Wine Act 2003.

You will contribute to the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of the directorate's strategic and operational planning, prioritisation and reporting frameworks and provide expertise on programme planning and performance management.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a team providing shared business services across multiple teams within the Food Risk Management Directorate.
  • Work closely with Directorate leadership to ensure seamless delivery of internal services that enable regulatory teams to focus on their core work.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the shared services team, ensuring timely and effective support across directorate teams.
  • Coordinate business planning, performance reporting.
  • Leading business/ data analysis for the directorate to champion process improvement and digital tools to enhance efficiency and service quality. 
  • Providing the structure and discipline for projects to ensure best practice project management and support project managers to ensure smooth delivery and project success.
  • Leading business analysis for the directorate to improve processes, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and support the implementation of effective solutions.
  • Oversea the developing and implementing competency assessment frameworks and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes for verifiers.
  • Contributing to the directorates strategic and operational planning requirements, performance measures and reporting.
  • Producing reporting for the Food Risk Management directorate and to meet NZFS/MPI governance, performance monitoring and stakeholder requirements.

 

About You – Mōu

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in managing staff; administrative, financial, and human resources systems and processes; and in developing and implementing support systems within government organisations.
  • Knowledge of food safety and related issues, experience with food regulation, and in making decisions with health and/or financial impact.
  • Demonstrated management success in building relationships and gaining the support and participation of key individuals and groups.
  • Experience in gathering, organising, and communicating information. This includes being able to quickly understand the nature of problems, identifying a range of possible solutions (including their implications), forming conclusions and providing advice.
  • Experience in managing planning and reporting processes.
  • A sound understanding of public sector processes and regulatory environments is desirable.

You will also have a high level of presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to present information confidently, clearly, and concisely to different audience needs.

 

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

The Team Manager Shared Services sits under the Manager Food Act Operations within the Food Risk Management directorate of New Zealand Food Safety (FZFS). Food Risk Management is responsible for setting standards for food production, processing, importing and exporting; identifying emerging food safety risks; and delivering an agile and evolving food compliance and response system.

The newly formed Shared Services team is a team of 8 people, with wide range of roles such as analysts, advisers and service designers that will be working to support verifiers, evaluators, other internal and external stakeholders with their requirements under the Food Act, Animal Products Act and Wine Act.

Based primarily out of Wellington in Pastoral House, our team is hard working and friendly. People enjoy working in this team because we have an energetic and positive team environment. Our work spans across many areas and so there will always be opportunities to learn, grow and try new things.
