Mō te tūnga | About the role

We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity until July 2026 for a Technical Adviser to join our compact and dynamic Design Team who are embedded in the planning and delivery space with the potential to influence both new and developing capital projects. We also link with Strategic Asset Management, Facilities Management, Compliance, Procurement and various other parts of the Asset Management Team and the wider department.

As the Technical Adviser you will be involved in various works streams, from the multiple critical components that influence safety and security in the custodial environment, to broader issues such as building services, structural elements, acoustics, and resilience.

This position is based in Wellington at National Office.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification is preferred; however, trade and other construction industry experience will be looked on favourably
  • Evidence of work experience with large complex projects
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the building industry, technical, compliance and statutory aspects through previous experience
  • Any local cultural experience and a willingness to expand this further
  • Demonstrate stakeholder engagement, change management, and project management skills and understanding.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $106,789 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $90,771 - $128,147. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
