Join us at the Department of Conservation (DOC) and lead a dedicated team in testing  our Workday implementation. Help shape the future of our people management  and make a difference in improving how we work as an organisation to preserve Aoteatoa's natural heritage.

As the Workday Testing Team Lead, you'll be at the heart of ensuring that our people focussed applications are fully tested, meeting agreed-upon processes and quality standards before they're released into production. Your leadership will play a crucial role in delivering top-tier testing and smooth transitions of our chosen solutions, ensuring excellence across all phases.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Leading your team through all phases of testing, from planning, through execution and managing defects.
  • Assuming responsibility for the quality of the in-scope applications, managing the challenges of project complexity, time constraints and user expectations
  • Developing and maintaining DOC's test assets, automated testing libraries, and ensure ITIL standards are met
  • Providing high-quality technical advice, and working closely with project managers for testing estimates and guidance
  • Fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment where learning and development are front and centre

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-performing teams, ideally both in-person and distributed
  • Deep understanding of testing methodologies, including functional, non-functional, system integration, and automated testing
  • Solid experience with SDLC best practices and proficiency in tools for manual and automated testing
  • Relevant certifications (ISTQB, ISEB, or equivalent) and knowledge of project methodologies (PRINCE2, DevOps, SCRUM)
  • Exceptional analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills to assess issues and risks critically
  • Skilled at fostering an inclusive, collaborative team culture and dedication for developing others.

The HRIS Project Architecture and Integration Team sit within the Organisational Support Group. Our purpose is to ensure DOC is resourced, capable, financially secure, technologically enabled, and safe. We are responsible for ensuring we have the necessary frameworks, resources and support to enable us to achieve our objectives.

The salary range for this position is $92,450.00 - $116,985.00 pro-rata with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
